LEARNING
MyShibariLife is a space for practicing and developing shibari in Kraków, from first contact with rope to advanced sequences and scene building. We are creating a place for people who want to learn technique in a spirit of mindfulness, communication and a culture of safety, with respect for boundaries and relationships. The programme includes workshops for all levels in the form of weekends, series and 1:1 lessons, as well as community events.
ROPE JAM
Rope Jam is an open gathering without a programme or demonstrations. You can tie, observe or simply spend time in the shared energy and an atmosphere of respect. Open Rope Time is quiet time for your own practice without a prescribed scenario, ideal for working on technique, practicing with a partner and calmly returning to your notes.
SAFETY
Alongside basic courses, we run specialist workshops based on anatomy and biomechanics, and regularly invite guests from Poland and abroad to present different perspectives on working with rope. We teach precise technique, but focus even more strongly on what happens in between—in the breath, signals, tension and consent—so that practice is mindful, effective and safe at the same time. You can come solo or as a duo; we will help you choose the right level and format of practice.
Shibari
beauty in safely tying the body
Shibari is the art of tying the body with rope. Although it is a beautiful and aesthetic form of expression, safety is key. Communication and trust come first: both sides agree on boundaries, expectations and comfort, while clear signals and mindfulness create a safe experience. Education and practice come next. Before a scene, it is worth learning about techniques, anatomical basics and potential risks. Internet videos cannot replace the watchful eye of an experienced person who can guide you through the learning process and help you develop good habits.
Rope matters
Choosing the right rope is important. Use high-quality rope intended for shibari, for example jute, with the right texture and without additives that irritate the skin; avoid technical rope from hardware stores. Knowledge of anatomy is essential. Understanding the course of nerves, bones and sensitive areas helps avoid pressure and strain; nerve compression is the most common cause of injury in shibari.
Keep the space tidy and be prepared for emergencies: clear the area, keep safety shears close at hand, know how to release your partner quickly and safely, and how to respond if they become faint or lose consciousness. Maintain observation and awareness throughout, paying attention to breathing, skin colour, reactions and any signs of discomfort. If anything causes concern, stop, focus on regulation and aftercare. Remember that your partner’s wellbeing is more important than the visual effect. Seek professional education, discuss any concerns with experienced people and practise responsibly.
